我回来啦。长长的靠近一个月的假期终于结束了，很留恋中国和马来西亚，特别是那
份浓浓的亲情。这次回去因筹办婚礼的缘故，也没来得及和古晋的网友们见面，抱歉哦。
一定会有下次的.明年我有时间再回去！

这次的旅程是我今生最难忘的日子,因为五月十五好那天白痴妞迎娶我进门，终于结束
了我们长达十五年的爱情长跑(老爸的话)。废话少说，还是看照片吧。

Good evening ladies and gent:

The major reason I want to speak today is to give thanks to some special people in my life who have contributed to today and made today possible.

First of all, I want to thank my extended family, especially my mother-in-law for the support with all the wedding arrangements. I am very blessed to have such a wonderful family as my in-laws.

Secondly, I want to thank my parents and my sister who have travilled all the way from China and Japan to attend my wedding. I am very grateful and pround to have you guys with us today. I love you guys.

I am very excited to be here tonight to get married to a person who is probably the most wonderful man in the world--my husband Michael. Michael and I have known each other for 15 years and we have been through a lot. But Michael has always been there for me even through life's tough trials. He just takes my breath away. He is an epitome of kindness sweetness honesty and integrity. He is my world, my life, my friend, my solemate and every great thing a woman could ever wish for. I am very lucky and fortuate to be Mrs Yeo.

Lastly, I want to thank everybody for coming and your kind gifts. I hope you enjoy tonight as much as I do. Special thanks to Ling Hui and Uncle Wong for being MCs tonight and you guys did a wonderful job. Thank you.

讲到懒，我也许算是个世界上最懒的准新娘了。今早妈打电话来问，礼服买了没，婚
纱定了没，戒指呢。。。。等等等等这类无聊繁琐的问题时，我敷衍了事地答--都
办妥啦。其实呢，我一件事都没办，而且也懒得作。其实何必这么麻烦呢，什么事
都可以做得很简单的-----只要我愿意。

礼服婚纱可以租，买？我才没那么傻呢，除非你打算结过一次再结啦。否则放在家
里占地方，偶尔还要拿去干洗，得不偿失。

戒指嘛，我跟白痴妞讲好，我不要钻石戒指，也不要什么昂贵的宝石戒，普通的就
好。其实买戒指完全是为了成礼。老娘我平时我都不喜欢什么珠宝首饰的，觉得脱
脱戴戴甚是麻烦。戴件贵爷在身上，不但要担心被强劫，还要上保险，老娘我不如
花这个钱精力保养保养自己好过啦。况且我要是在意的是这些，我当初也不会看上
白痴妞啦。我是不是一个很会精打细算又很难得的好女仔叻。呵呵~~(自卖自夸)。

其实我要的很简单，我要的是份承诺--一份对彼此忠诚不悔的诺言。我不羡慕
荣华富贵的骄矜，但祈求的是简简单单的那份饴乐。我要的不多。

最近在追看由王晶导演，寇世勋朱茵杨恭如和陈法蓉主演的“暴雨梨花”。

大美女陈法蓉演的戏，我一定是喜欢的啦。好喜欢她演的曼玲，只是太具有悲剧性太让
人伤感---好比昙花一现。疯狂地爱上了里面所有的歌曲，特别是这首“苏州河边”，
曼玲自杀时唱的，好委婉凄凉。这是我在影子的blog“偷”来的。希望你们也和我一样
喜欢这首歌。

偶要结婚了

虽然我和我老公在九八年时已经领了结婚证，但因为种种种种原因，一直还未摆酒。
这次由于双方家长一再再而三地催促(因为他们总觉得没有请客告知天下，就好比我们
两个非法同居酱)，白痴妞终于同意正式在礼仪上把我迎娶进门。所以我们将在五月十七
号那天在古晋Crowne Plaza举办酒席。

婚期一日一日逼近，而我们在美国的什么忙也帮不上，全靠我那未来婆婆一人负责操
办。而我连婚纱见都没见到，结婚照还没拍,礼堂也没看到，请柬还未印发，亲戚还没邀请，
要不要敬茶也未作决定，还有还有....好多好多loose ends...

我晕了~~

一月十一号，2008 年，对我来讲是个特别的日子，因为这天我正式加入美国国籍。漫长的等待终于迎来了这一天。早上八点半在 U.S. District Court Of Connecticut at New Haven 宣誓入籍。早早的courtroom就满满地聚集了大约五十个不同种族不同肤色的新移民--忐忑不安地等待着这个庄严的仪式。我们来自五湖四海，不同的文化背景，却拥有着同样一个梦。在美国这个大熔炉里找到自己人生目标的一个新起点，并为之努力奋斗。

入籍是个很漫长艰辛的历程，我是旅居美国十五个年头方才拿到国籍的。而对于有些人而言，这个历程会更加不易，真是“等得脖子都长了”。这么不容易却偏偏要去做，难道真的是以自己国家为耻吗？当然真的不能不排除此因素，但更多的移民(包括我在内)是为了有更多的自由，在老了以后有更多的社会保障。

宣誓仪式大概持续了两个钟头，然后我就拿到了这张证明，接下来我就可以去拿护照噢。

If you have lived in the east coast of the U.S. for prolonged periods of time and you still tell me you love snow, I'd say either you are one of those lucky overly optimistic people or you work for public sector--a snowy day might be a day off for you. Unfortunately, I belong to neither above-mentioned group. I am no long in school so I don't an extra day off just because it's snowing out. Snow makes me feel depressed,helpless and trapped. It is not romantic but deadly. Driving under the slippery condition with your car swerving out of control is no fun at all. As result of a earlier snow storm which had dumped a mix of snow and freezing rain, my whole driveway is now covered with ice.

Shoveling is another thing I hate about snow and its aftermath. Shoveling ice is actually worse than snow because you have to get the ice to break off into pieces and then shovel it away.

After an hour's toil, I only managed to complete one tenth of the driveway. You know what, I am not going to kill myself with this now. All I need to do tomorrow is tell me boss he has to hold the fort without me.

Sleepless nights at Amsterdam

Amsterdam Centraal

Amsterdam -- a city famous for its culture and history, magnificant art and winding canals--a city never sleeps nor fully awakes. I was there for seven days on business and I struggled to find a good night sleep as my hotel was right at the doorstep of central station. My sleepless nights were rudely buffeted with shrieking honks from the street; constant traffic with people coming in and out of the room and a strange sputtering sound happening only around the middle of the night.

Confused and angry, I wandered about and found this type of store scattered around the city's many narrow walkways and allies. I was offered drugs several times on the street and in the train station. I turned it down each time. I heard people get robbed from buying drugs on the street, so I consider myself warned. Plus I don't do drugs not even for recreational purpose. Drugs are simply not cool in my book. By the way, isn't canabis illegal even in Holland?

I know it's not fair to judge something without full knowledge of facts or seeing the big picture. But my culinary experience in Amsterdam was not so good either. The steak was hard, the veal was harder, not to mention a puny bottle of water cost 2 euros(around 3 US dollars). Even the "capital of the funk food country"could do better than that.

今天在信箱了意外地发现University Of Bridgeport 的月刊杂志, 里面介绍了许多
学校最新新闻啦逸事啦等等，当然还有不少老校友的新介绍。毕业了这么多年还能
被你找上门来, 学校Alumni Relations 好厉害噢。值得赞下~~

一篇一篇地看，一页一页地读，真为母校能有今天着实感到欣慰。记得刚刚来的时候，
UB还只有不到一千个学生。而现在入学人数已将近五千人，无论从师资还是教学质
量都在不断提高。虽然UB 在许多人看来只是一个名不见经传的三流学校，但却给了
我全额奖学金。有时会想，要不是奖学金自己会来吗，一定不会。但或许现在还
在为如何偿还巨额学费发愁吧。记得当时有几个北大清华生一脸委屈地对采访他们
的报社记者说他们是如何被UB 给骗来的等等。我当时就不以未然，你有本事就拿哈
佛奖学金去，否则免开尊口。现在这些所谓的学界巨子文化界泰斗多数作了教书匠，
也没听说他们哪个拿到诺贝尔奖。而自己后来也许是懒惰申请别间大学，结果连Master
degree也在UB 拿下的。

不管怎样，我还是感激怀念UB，因为那里有我成长的足迹，留有了我许多的喜怒哀乐。

最近忙得连老母都不记得，倒成了这个网站的稀客。嗨，今天是美国一年一度的感恩
节(Thanksgiving)，本来应教堂牧师盛情邀请去他家吃饭，但今天早上起床便感觉
不适，下午更觉不爽，只好打电话拒绝。结果睡了一个下午，晚上吃青菜加白粥，
好不惨淡哦。

前几天在朋友家看见自己早些年的照片，再跟现在的比比，顿感韶华易逝，人向黄
昏。当时觉得看什么都很有趣，作什么都简单，什么都没有，但就是傻呼呼地开心。
呵呵~~也许是我老了，感觉什么都是以前好。

上个礼拜逛街犒赏自己一个Dooney 包包，虽然颜色有些老气，但样子还不错。放心吧，
不是皮质的。下个礼拜出差去找红头阿三(上海方言：荷兰佬) 时正好用到。
知道为什么上海人管荷兰人叫红头阿三吗？因为荷兰人同其他欧洲人在殖民统治期时
(其实现在也一样)都是那么得颐指气使，不可一世，没什么家教，一开口就是“I
say ... I say.." 再加上他们特有的红毛，所以上海人便称呼他们是”红头阿三”噢。

育儿经验几乎是零的我，却也学人家报名在教堂的Nursery作义工。教堂的Nursery是用来照顾那些1至
三岁的儿童而设立的。这些儿童因为年龄还比较小不能领受福音，而又怕因此而影
响到其他教徒，把他们单独放在一间房间而由一个大人照顾确是再好不过的。而今
天由我当班当孩子头，管理四五个顽童。

别看这些小孩还小，却顽皮的不得了。爬上爬下，把食物当成丢掷玩具。经常为了
抢玩具大吵大闹，抢到的自然无话，抢不到的就在地上满地打滚又哭又闹。一个小
时下来，我的忍耐力已到了极限。当时这个叫的孩子正躺在地上打滚不肯起来，我
大叫道，“Kyle, you are not good today." Kyle望着我问“why". 我没好气地
答，“You are not behaving well. Do you want me to tell your mom?" Kyle听
了。从地上起来，走到房间的角落旁坐下来，小声抽泣起来。看到他一把鼻涕一把
眼泪，真让我哭笑不得。

最近因为太多东西要想，大脑超负荷运转，快要爆炸了一样。先是辞去了工作，然后
找到了一份工作，然后是两份，接着现在的公司又有意挽留我。两份工作各有各的
优点，实在不知取舍。何去何从，何去何从着僵持了两个礼拜，终于作出了一个决
定，去婉拒另外一家公司，但对方的诚意力劝坚持要说服我考虑考虑，我再一次陷
进迷惘。年轻的时候，脑子比较简单，基本上每天吃喝享乐还有就是想轰轰烈烈地
爱一次。可惜自己已不再年轻，虽说并无鸿鹕大志，但也不想浑浑噩噩过一辈子。
呵呵~就酱。相片上的Applesauce Cake同事该给我作的，好好吃。第一次尝试就
作成酱，相当好啦。下图是我 rub shoulders with the big boys. Haha.

Love is in the air. Can you smell it, taste it or even feel it? If you are in my house for this past week, you certainly would. First of all, I felt in love with Puffy. Ahem, for your information puffy is a not related to that puff daddy who shacked up with J. Lo. My friend Steven was on a business trip and had asked me to take care of his pet bird. Ten times sweeter and better, Puffy totally won my heart and pretty's too. Oh boy, were they loud. ~blush~ ~blush~ hehe...

Then on Saturday, we went to New York City to have my hair done. Yup, my hair is straight again. A trip to NYC is not complete without a stop to one of its many delectable restaurants. What to eat? Where to eat? Finally we picked out a Chinese resaurant on Prince Street. Food for two or for a pack of wolves? Hehe...it's up for your imagination.

Labor Day weekend 去那里？跟我去Bronx Zoo 转一圈吧。因为好久没去动物园了，
童心未泯的我雀跃盼望了许久。谁说动物园只适合小孩子，如果说一个大人能够经
常返朴归真，行事心思都能象个孩子的话，那么他的心才不会老，而且永远年轻。
废话少讲，跟我们出发吧。

懒婆娘自小就喜欢动物，所以凡是跟动物有关的事，懒婆娘都极为敏感.所以特借此
地来介绍介绍这个动物园啦。Bronx Zoo占地265英亩，在市区动物园中规模最大，
约有四千只动物在这里安居乐业。作为野生动物保护协会成员之一的Bronx Zoo，其
成立之宗旨之一在于保护野生动物，所以所有门票收入都用于
此用途。展厅分为室内和室外两种，老虎山，海狮池，爬行动物世界，禽鸟馆，猴
馆，蝴蝶花园，刚果大猩猩展等等等等，看也看不完，走也走不完。最值得一提的
是在Congo Gorilla Forest看的一部小纪录片。讲到由于人类的乱砍乱伐及利欲熏
心，热带雨林遭受毁坏，造成许多动物无家可归，或被杀戮或被迫迁徙.看完之后令人
寒心。这些动物几千年以来一直以这片热带丛林为家生生息息，是人类无情地侵入了它
们的家园，还残忍地把它们赶走屠杀尽。几百年后，当我们孩子问起这些早已被我们屠
戮殆尽的动物时，我们将如何回答他们呢？

懒婆娘来献宝了耶。哈哈，隆重推出这条由我--懒婆娘亲手勾织的第一条毛线毯，
虽还未完工,但一针一线，独具匠心，手工细腻，无与伦比，乃懒婆娘呕心沥血之处女巨作。
哈哈。各位看管，莫要见笑，开玩笑的。

说起来好笑，懒婆娘小时候其实最讨厌女红之类的玩意儿。人家说上海的女生聪慧，女
红之类的活儿，一教就会，好象天生就刻在骨子里似的，well,讲这句话的人一定
没见过我。懒婆娘还未成为懒婆娘之前，除江湖人称“母老虎”外(因经常请同学吃“麻栗子”
故得此名)，还有一个绰号就是“假小子.假小子自然对于什么打毛衣，编织一类的东西，
一窍不通，也没兴趣去学。偏偏初一时学校有家政课，男生学作航天飞机模型，女生学
刺绣织毛线。我的妈呀，当时可要了我的小命了。后来是求爷爷，告奶奶，请了“捉刀
人”帮我交差完事。

最近不知道为什么，看见公司一些女同事织的那些毛线啊毛衣什么的，煞是好看，于
是央求着她们教我。谁知越玩越起劲，织呀织的，停也停不了手。呵呵，真是”月
会圆，人会变”。跟我老公讲起，这个倒霉蛋居然说“那你母老虎的称号什么时候
会变啊”。我说“我母老虎永远都不变”，“啪啪”白痴妞头上挨了两个麻栗子。

今天和哈尼出去散步，居然看见朋友Paul在遛狗。黑色的Sammi才一岁多，好动活泼，
颇受人喜爱。我和老公和他狂玩狂拍了一通。

老是想逃走去玩，一刻都不停。多动得很。

提到纽约的都市艺术博物馆(Metropolitan Museum Of Art 简称MET))那是不知无人
不晓，它也是这座具有浓郁术气息的城市的其中一个象征。以前读书的时候，曾疯
狂地迷恋上了古埃及文化，所以经常搭了地铁来，一待就是大半天。想不到过了这
么多年，故地重游，仿佛又象回到了从前一般。我的好朋友史帝夫是学艺术的，跟
他探讨，自然有心得。但我老公是学计算机专业，脑子里只有一根筋。对他来说，
艺术是吃饱了饭没什么事情的人做的事，而他经常觉得肚饿(贪吃鬼)，所以自然对
一幅破画不大感冒。

我们的路线是从康州坐火车到Grand Central，然后搭地铁六号线去China Town吃午
饭。吃完午饭，再坐地铁去位于第五大街(著名的Fifth Avenue)的博物馆。
大约六点离开展览馆，去位于33街的日本buffet 店吃buffet。爽吧！

PS. To the "gentleman" sitting behind: I know you are pretty adamant
about cropping you out of the photo. Normally, I'd crop out anything
that's not artistially appealing out from my photo
(that would be you in this case). But by doing so, it'd seriously
compromise the quality of the photo. Plus your reluctance to lift
your fat heavy butt and move somewhere else made me believe you
kinda enjoy being noticed somehow. Thus, I had no choice but left
my pic the way it is with you being the major flaw.

上次讲到康州的家居店，居然忘记提到Ikea。~该打~ ~该打~~在中国大陆，翻译作易
家家居店。在北京独此这么一家店面，所以也可以叫作“一家”噢。呵呵~~ 听说易
家刚开张不久，因生意太过兴旺，居然昏倒了一位出来，真是应了美国的一句俗话
“shop til you drop". 这个故事的真实性，咱姑且不去考究，但易家刚在康州开
张那伙儿，生意可火啦。要找个停车位还真不简单呢。事隔了两三年，想不到生意
还是红火得了不得。嗨，有人赚钱赚到手都软了啊。

好喜欢这个客厅的布置噢。

其实啊，我家养的这只叫作小可爱(洋名Pretty)的鸟，从各个方面来讲一点都不象只
鸟。相反，从很多方面来说倒象是个人-----而且是象一个很恐怖的人。谁？我！
这些都是我那“疼我爱我的老公”说的，他还说我在潜移默化的影响着可爱。老公
说小可爱身上至少有三处象我。

第一，小可爱很懒，每天除了睡，就是吃。吃饱了睡，睡饱了继续吃。(懒婆娘语评：
这是我理想的幸福生活啊。可惜让小可爱享受去了)。
人家家里养的小鸟还会练练飞翔技术，偶尔在家中饶屋翱翔数周，锻炼锻炼翅膀。
好么，这只鸟，有翅膀同没有没什么两样。偶尔在家里鸭款度步，还留下一屁股
“炸弹”要人擦。而且很聒噪，呱啦呱啦没得停。人说话，他也说。如果可爱是个女人，
一定是个长舌妇

第二，可爱是个自恋狂，臭美得一塌糊涂。每天离不开镜子，他最喜欢在他唱歌的
时候欣赏自己俊美的身形了。如果把镜子突然间从他面前拿走，他会大叫，直到你
把镜子还回给他。小可爱这点最象懒婆娘了，懒婆娘有BDD，每天照镜子比吃饭放屁
还勤快。哪儿有镜子，就算打死懒婆娘她都不走了。(懒婆娘评语：这倒也奇怪了，
难道真的是什么样的人养什么东西？)

第三，小可爱吃东西很刁。他有三不吃-----不好吃的不吃，不嫩的不吃，不贵的不
吃。不好吃的没什么味道的他不会碰，西兰花中间最嫩的部分他才会吃，稍老的部分，他
连看都不会看。小可爱最喜欢吃海鲜，大条虾他可以吃半条。

我老公最后的评语：我的妈呀，我简直是和两个懒婆娘一起生活啊！！！！

下午和白痴妞在家闲得无聊，突然想到古人的一句话“读万卷书不如行万里路”，读
一卷书已然头痛了，莫说是万卷。行一里路，已经头重脚轻了，别说是万里。但不
行路，岂不成废人了吗。于是决定同妞远足登山一下，去吸取大自然的精华。
康州高楼大厦没几间，但山呀河呀的倒蛮多的(整个一个穷乡僻壤)。所以找山爬，
不怕找不到。远的不说，近的就在不远--Sleeping Giant State Park。

这个州立公园蛮大的，有--- 嗨！总之很大就是咯。我们商量了半天，决定不要叫身
体太劳累了，就选了最短的一条路线爬。这条路线长约1.5英里，是去 stone castle
最近的一条路(两点一线直线最近嘛)。

虽说英里听起来不是很长，但因为一路都是上坡路，况且还要抵防随时一不小心就会
踩响的“狗屎炸弹”，所以我们也无心留恋周围的景致。
半小时过后，终于到达目的地了---所谓的什么“城堡”。简直是破屋一间(我呸！)

我在“城堡”下，惺惺作态，摆出一副胜利者的姿态。令人作呕。

剧烈运动让我们疲累，白痴妞提议去吃面。这家靠近耶鲁大学的面家因为价钱低廉而
颇受学生喜爱，自然成为廉价白痴妞的天堂。

人多，车多，肮脏，嘈杂--你们喜欢的New York loh,但我却很扛门(上海方言不liki之意).
虽然不是很愿意来纽约，但每次都不得不来。
今天来的目的---修剪一下我的鸡窝头。两个月没去修头发，就象两个月没来月经，心情很
郁闷。还好今天停车场还蛮空的，不象上次为了个停车位,差点跟一个biyatch大打出手。

又是Traffic Jam 郁闷~~

今天Salon也蛮空的(奇怪，人都死哪儿去啦)。

天哪，我的头发上插满了电线和管子。爱美，是要付出代价滴。后面那位美女是我的
洗头师。她好温柔。

两个小时的等待好漫长，白痴妞等得脖子都长了，已经开始不耐烦，我的肚子
也饿得咕咕直叫。
嗨，终于等到懒婆娘一天中第二最happy 的辰光啦.

这家叫作膳坊的四川酒家是我和白痴妞最近发现的一处好去处。白痴妞上次
吃到鼻涕眼泪直飙，但还是大叫痛快。Left Conch Sichuan Style

我和哈尼同在我们常去的教堂里任执事(board of deacons)。我们经常互相取
笑说终于如愿以偿地成为了"pillars of the community" (社会的中流砥柱)。
上个礼拜，牧师突然召开紧急执事会议，商讨要事。原来是我们教堂里有四位教徒将会被
美国联邦政府以不合法公民驱逐出境。爸爸妈妈连同两个女儿特向教堂求助帮忙想
办法。爸爸妈妈英文不大会讲，从他们的女儿口中知道他们大概十年前从巴西偷渡
来美国，父母一直以不合法身份打工糊口，现大女儿已大专毕业，小女儿还在念高
中。他们恳求教堂能不能想个办法聘请妈妈担任个什么职位。

我们的牧师是个义人，有心想帮她。但因为教堂带薪的职位已满，想把她推荐给另
外一家教堂。考虑到那家教堂百分之八十以上的教徒是从巴西来的，说不定她能在
那里找到事做。所有牧师特地把这些执事的找来，询问他们是不是同意这样帮他。

众所周知，在美国申请办移民相当麻烦。手续繁琐，程序复杂，等待时间漫长，非
一般人可以搞得定，非得要聘请专门办移民签证的律师才行。关于移民方面的常识，
跟普通美国人讲，他们是完全不懂的，也完全不理解。我和哈尼都不是本地人，十
分能理解个中的艰辛，所以选支持她。

当牧师问到一个其中叫Tony的执事时，他一口拒绝，一下是他讲话的大概内容：

If something has to do with a foreign language I oppose.
This is my principle and belief. We are living in America.
Everbody should speak English. If I hear people speak a foreign language in front of me, I feel offended coz I don't know whether they are talking about me behind my back or not. Both my parents came from Italy. My dad used to say you'v got to speak English and this is America. He went to classes to learn English. I sympatize with
them but it's my belief.

Although I myself do not find hiring the mother as an employee
in our church a viable solution to the problem, refusing to refer her to other churches is simply turning a deaf ear to people in dire state of need.Shame on them. Maybe Tony should read the church covenant at the back of the Hymn Notes which says

Aid each other in sickness and DISTRESS.

and take it to heart instead of merely paying lip service to it. They need help not lecture.

I've been living in this country for a long time and I appreciate American culture, its values especially its diversity. However I am still more comfortable dealing with my "own people"or listening to the sermon in Chinese if given the chance. It's not shunning away from the American culture but a matter of personal preference. "Embrace our culture or leave" or 'Speak our language or leave" is an unreasonable stance for any country( or church in this case) to take. That's the reason why a lot of banks these days hire people who are bilingual simply because they feel they can reach the customer/audience better to those whose first
language is not English.

说老实话，我懒婆娘除了喜欢逛买衣服的店，还有就是喜欢去家居店。左看看，右瞧
瞧，无论是一套有趣生动的吃冰淇淋的奶牛碗羹系列，或是一件令人忍俊不禁的憨
猪围裙，都会让我爱不释手。只可惜在康州这样的家居店只有两家，一家是
Bed Bath & Beyond，另外一家就是Linen & Things。而且这两家卖的货色。
多少都有点雷同，所以逛起来没有在北京或是上海来得过瘾。哈尼说他最不喜欢逛家居店，
因为他说我太博爱，恨不得把整家店都搬回来。

前两天我因光顾着跟老妈讲电话聊天，居然把个锅愣烧穿了个洞(被哈尼骂了个狗血
喷头，恨)，所以被他拖了来选锅。哈尼买东西最重要就是价平耐用(这也许就是他
当初追我的原因吧，哈哈)瞄了半天，终于决定这两款中选一款。

就知道他啦，一定是看中人家第一个有rebate.

而我呢，也不忘在卖镜子的柜台自恋一番。

今天早上一下去办公室，就看到这个粉红色礼包放在我桌上。

打开一看，原来是我最喜欢吃的Lindt巧克力.

这么大块，真是大块朵颐。
吃巧克力其实也有讲究的哟，cocoa mass含量越高的巧克力,质量当然就越好，而且里面含的抗氧化成分也
就越高。所以多吃dark chocolate 可以防衰老呢。

前一个月我的老友Steve买下了一座townhouse。今天他的新居就已新鲜出炉了。到底是artist出身，家里布置得果然不错。~envy~ ~envy~ lol.

自己虽然不是佛教徒，但也觉得后面的佛像一片祥和

客厅--好温馨哦。照片里面是我的朋友小婷，好久不见了喂。她刚刚诞下一子。

最喜欢他的卧房布置哦，看见这张床就想睡了。他还没上窗帘，不过没放窗帘已经很
美了。

本来今晚的主打是吃烧烤的，但天公不作美，中间下起了大暴雨，结果我才吃了一个
鸡翅。

吃饱了，喝足了，周公来约了~~

DIY做维他命C面霜

爱美的美眉行动起来吧。DIY又经济实惠又有效的维他命C面霜.
市场上卖的同类面霜又贵但却不见得很有效，为什么？因为维他命C是极其不稳定的，
它一旦见光遇热，极易氧化分解。所以我们通常买回来的面霜在运输及搁置期--也
就是在我们还未使用前--有效成分就已打了个折。而在我们使用期间，不停的开盖遇
光受热，又使有效程度大受影响。来吧,聪明勤力的美眉们，行动起来吧。
其实这个面霜的做法很简单哦，所需药品如下：

1-1.2 克维他命C (L-ascorbic acid)
5ml(1茶匙)水
5ml甘油(Glycerine)

好啦，现在实验开始。
先将维他命C彻底溶解于水，然后再加入甘油调和即可。对啦，就是这样简单啦。不过要记得
哟，做好的面霜一定要贮存在一个密闭不透光的玻璃瓶内并存入冰箱保存噢，否则维他命C就跑光光
啦。
注：根据这个配方所做出来的面霜可含维生素大概10%左右。

拷夫，是上海一道家喻户晓的家常菜，因其口感香滑，其味微甜清爽，而颇受人们喜
爱。小时候在上海，最喜欢吃小阿姨烧的拷夫，拷夫煨红烧肉再配上香菇金针菜木
耳，拷夫因吸取了肉味，吃起来格外的香甜入味，我一顿可以多吃两碗饭。这次回
去，又有幸能尝到她特地给我烹制的拷夫，让我仿佛又回到了童年，真是人生又一
大快事也。
前两天妈妈又特地从北京邮寄过来脱水拷夫，并其他佐料，电话里还千叮万嘱地教
我烹制方法，好感动下~~呵呵~~哈尼是马来西亚福建人，喜辣不喜甜，平日里总
“强迫”我实验他烧的当地菜。其中包括---Yes, u've got it. MEE HUN!! 不过这
次也让他作回实验白鼠，呵呵~~

经过两小时的搏斗，一道色香(味道还差点)俱全的拷夫就完成啦。因为第一次尝试，
觉得油放了少了一点(不过已经比平常放得多得多了)，拷夫口感偏干，下次再努力
啦。

我回来了.满载着家人沉甸甸的祝福，关切的叮咛以及一大箩筐的礼物，我又离开了那个生我养我，我对之又爱又恨的国度。几许惆怅，更多的牵挂，还有的则是莫名的离愁。三个礼拜的假期，十六天待在了上海，中间还加入旅行团游了趟千岛湖,在船上品尝了下当地人极力推荐的什么野生鱼。吃完感觉就好象是当地人把我当那条鱼似的那么宰了。

因为这次和哈尼回家探亲的路线不一致，所以没能看到聪明美丽的玲慧姐姐，智慧女强人妈姨，我那絮叨却爱子如命的未来婆婆及那两个机灵鬼小魔头.上次见到他们是去年的七月，怪想他们的。这是去年回去在crowne tower照的。住在古晋的朋友如果在巴刹撞见画上任何一位，请予以方便，哈哈。

人未见到，礼却拿了不少。婆婆的补品，大姐的香水，妈姨好有意思哦，送来一大堆由日本一家叫Nefful公司出品的保健衣物，有内衣裤，背心，袜子，围巾，长裤，帽子。哇!可以开店了。据说这些产品对防治各类过敏性疾病(如哮喘)失眠及血液循环不畅通很有疗效，更对老年人的关节痛和肾虚有很好的辅助治疗效果。对于这个产品，我颇有些心得.前年我买了条围巾试一下，有段时间我因工作上的原因有几个晚上难以入眠，但戴上那条围巾后，不知怎么的就慢慢入睡了。而且去年一年我都没犯鼻塞的毛病呢。有兴趣的朋友不妨试一下,请发伊妹儿给我啦。
更令我感动的是，哈尼的这份大礼--fancy sapphire手链。
他说本来要买钻戒的，但看我向来好象对戒指不是很感冒，所以他决定买手链了。嘻嘻，真是“心有灵犀一点通”哦。

安能辨我是雄雌

Stevie前段时间收养了一只无家可归的cockatiel (真是爱心爆棚)，只是一直苦于不
知道是公是母。他知道我们家前前后后养了七八只鸟那么多，经验甚多，所以
特地向我的老公请教。我老公(花名妞妞)先是简单问了下puffy 的情况，例如平常
有没有唱歌什么的，因为通常只有公的会唱歌。然后沉吟了一下，当即说，“其实
很简单。拿来我家，我家那只是公的嘛，只要看看他有没有pooh你那只，不就知leh."
Steve听后，哈哈大笑，称言此计甚善。两人挤眉弄眼两下，当即同意今天下午拿他
的puffy来我家由我的可爱鉴定性别.

谁知两只鸟见面后你看我，我看你，打量对方达十分钟之久，但可爱连碰puffy的一
丝意思都没有。Steve说，可能是公的。我那假行家老公摇一下头道，倒也未必.当下
指着puffy屁股下面的一撮毛说“上面有pattern oh, za boh lah..."
幸好没有小鸟同性恋者，否则如果不做血液化验，Steve恐怕一辈子都找不出puffy的真正性别。

下个礼拜我就要回家省亲了。三个礼拜说长不长说短也不短。每次回去之前，总会很
伤心，舍不得老公，更舍不得我的宝贝小可爱。谁会舍得这张脸~~

而每次要回来前时候又记挂我的父母，舍不得离开他们，真是很难受。小的时候，有个算命佬就讲我的脚很长，会跑得很远。自己是个基督徒，原本不信什么算命，但这点不得不相信了。这么多年来跟爸妈总是聚少离多，爸我不知道，但知道妈总是很想我，记挂我。其实说起来很惭愧，自己出来做事这么多年，还从未给过爸妈什么钱。所以这次我决定出资赞助他们去韩国，明年让他们跟我们去新加坡和马来西亚玩。父母健在，是我的幸福。否则“树欲静，而风不止。子欲孝，而亲不在”那将是何等悲哀啊。

对每一个人来讲，第一次的经历往往是最难忘记的，象自己的第一部车，第一个男/女朋友，印象最深。看到Steve第一次拥有自己间屋的那种兴奋，让我不由得想到三年前自己从经纪手里拿到钥匙，首次成为Homeowner的情形。我的第一个房子也是townhouse。跟Steve不同的是，我的那间是二手货。同亚洲的钢筋水泥房相比，美国的房子全是木制的dry wall，虽然建造的时候非常快捷而且简易，但最大的毛病就是隔音相当差。这也是我当初决定买房子而后来又把它卖掉的最大原因。Townhouses 在美国被称为是starter house, 因价格比single family homes 较公廉，通常适合年轻人或是退休老人购买。说来好笑，我的townhouse有两间卧室，却有四间厕所--一层一个，二层两个，地下室一个，不过对我来说倒是左右逢源, 因为我“懒人屎尿多”。抱歉房子看上去很乱，那是那天卖房子搬家的时候拍的。

朋友Stevie新买了个房子，今天close. 下午便叫我和老公去看一下。有人有新屋住，
当然红光满面。我有靓屋看，自然也开心罗。今天是Stevie人生中的一个新的转折
点，因为他已经正式成为一个Homeowner. Congrats, Steve. 他好开心地带我们四
下参观拍照，大谈怎样布置自己的小窝。我觉得房子蛮不错的，townhouse style, 两屋一
厅，一个停车库。麻雀虽小，但五脏具全，很温馨下的。

自从我有了这个部落以后，每天都拿着不相机走来走去，象个记者酱.但是噢，我拍照拍到一半时，我的倒霉相机没电池，所以Stevie的 walk-in closet
和guest room 没拍到。其实这五六年的Housing Boom让康州的房价涨得实在够离谱。原本才三十多万就能买得到的，现在要五十几万。能源价钱最近又大幅度上调，汽油又贵，真是世道艰难。

参观完新屋后，我们便去以前House of Tung，现为什么东京什么的餐馆吃饭。结果
吃到一半，居然有只瘴螂从Pu Pu Platter 里面跳出来，真是好离谱。以后都休想
我在光顾了，仅此一次了。

Next week Eric will be leaving us for a new job in Silicon Valley. We decided to have dinner at Chuck's. We were all very sad for Eric's departure but at the same time happy for him. We are so very fortunate to have such a good friend as Eric. Congras for the promotion and best wishes in the future, buddy. Three of us had the porterhouse steaks while Eric ordered lamb chops. The steaks were ok, a bit overcooked in my opinions.Steve just came back from a three-week vacation to Malaysia and Thailand and was very excited to share with us his experiences. I really enjoyed their company and cherished the time spent with them. Fourteen years ago we came to this strange countries to study and pursue the American dream. Friendship formed and persevered even through life's many trials and tribulations. Good friends are forever. They are part of my family and they are all I have in here. It's sad to see our group is shrinking once again. Thank you very much for being a good friend and we will miss you.

终于还是抵不过诱惑，买下了这个超美一下的真皮包包。上次在GAP看见一只极cool的休闲包，因为是真皮的，咬紧牙关坚持不买。朋友在一旁还忙不住地称赞我坚持信念，做事有原则。而我回家以后，心里一直惦记着那个包包，有点小后悔没有买下。嗨，坚持自己的信念其实真的好难。不是真皮做的包真的很难看的，你叫我怎办？

从国奥队谈谈自取其辱

听说日前中国国奥队与英国女王公园巡游者队(QPR)在一场友谊赛中，因一点争执与对方球员发生了一场恶性集体群殴事件，其中一名国奥队球员也因此被袭颌骨骨折，当场休克达五分钟之久。对此事后国奥队的主教练杜依(Dujkovic)说了一句发人深思的话，他说，对方只是一个娱乐球队，而国奥队代表的则是中国。意指国奥队这次的大打出手严重影响了国人在外国的声誉，令中国人蒙羞颜面扫地。我觉得杜依讲得很有道理。一个人在外国确实应时时提醒记住自己的一举一动，很有可能会对自己国家的声誉造成直接或是间接的影响。听说中国人在日本买房子借贷款异常困难，为何？因为中国人在很多日本人的眼中是一群没有责任感，有借无还的贼。我认识有几个出租录影带的店，指明不把带子租给中国大陆人。难道每个大陆人都是烂泥扶不上墙吗？并不是，而是几个害群之马的所作所为令到整个国家蒙羞。国奥队这次确实是因一时意气用事，为了赢脸面，却因此而丢尽了颜面。但令我气愤的不单止此，这些年轻气盛的笨蛋们也不好好想想，知己知彼，才可百战百胜，就凭你们这些吃青菜豆腐的豆芽菜身形，身体素质不如人，怎奈何得了一群吃肉的猛牛。你们下次有本事就把对方打得狗血喷头，倒地休克五分钟，否则就不要丢国人的脸，“东亚懦夫”的脸由得你们自己去丢吧,自取其辱！

We went to My friend's aunt Julie's for Christmas dinner. I had a lot of fun talking eating and meeting with new people. I broke out the Cantonese I learnt from watching TVB. 好肉酸啊. Julie cooked for us and she did a good job. She and her husband Noel had just got married a couple of months ago. Congrats Julie. Time flies. I can't believe 2006 is almost over. What did I do this year ? What did I really accomplish? Probably not many. Am I a better person now than I was before? Maybe. At least I had learnt how to let go of certain things and forgive certain people, whch I considered an impossible task to do previously. If you can't change the situation, why not change your perception of it? I found this old saying particularly useful for keeping my sanity and maintaining a little more positive attitude . On a separate note, I am watching TVB's CIB Files(lower left) starring Wong He, Bowie Lam and Maggie Siu. Ah He is still charming as ever. ~drooling~ Hehe. So far as good. I must say I really miss TVB after wandering off from it for mainland productions for almost a year now.

Also I had my hair straigtened again. A new look for new year ma. Hehe.

Right after I came back from Eng Gong's dinner party, I was sick like a puppy dog--acute sore throat,uncontrollable coughing and pain with swallowing. Despite feeling unwell, I still went to the gym and got on the treadmill for a brisk walk for an hour yesterday afternoon. Oh boy, was that a bad decision. When I came back home,I felt terrible. My throat was killing me and my head was pounding, every single muscle in my body ached and I felt like every bit of the last bit of engery had been zapped out of me. Deflated, I subsequently collapsed into the bed. I managed to fall asleep last night in the end but was frequently awakened by bad coughing. I feel slightest better today but my throat is still hurting me. I have not had a cold in two years. I guess the two year record has been broken.

All set and ready to go for my trip. Half way to the airport, a lady from the airlines called me and told me my flight had just been cancelled because of the weather. The next flight will be at eight o'clock tonight. Since waiting in a crowded yet potentially dangerous place for another six long hours didn't sound particularlly appealing to me, I headed back home. After I took this pic, I need to

1) Call the guy at the location telling him not to pick me at the airport.
As much as he wants to meet me and see me (keke), it's just not gonna happen tonight.
2) Call up the hotel to cancel my reservation for tonight. I don't want
to be overcharged even if the company is paying for this

It's been a while since I last updated this blog mostly due to laziness on my part. it's like my cranium is bursting with thoughts while my fat fingers are unwilling to cooperate. Wanna tell you guys I am still alive and wanna thank those who still visit me from time to time even though this space's been so quiet lately. *muah*

Work has kept me real busy lately and the never-ending budgets/estimates process and external and internal audits have nearly droven me to the edge of insanity. The problem is I didn't derive any sense of satisfaction from my work now. The budget is a joke--you use your brains for five minutes to come up with the numbers then spend the next five days in front of a keyboard brainlessly keying in the numbers. If, for some reason, the budget needs to be revised, the whole damn thing starts all over again. Doing tedious mundane clerical work once in a while is understandable cos it'part of the job and everybody has it, but spending way too much time on it is a total waste of my time in my opinion. There were days where I think I was going to have a meltdown and the negative thoughts racing through my mind threatened to cripple and destroy me. Then it all came back to my aged old debate in regards to my career path: should I be staying in private accounting or move back to public. I will be on a business trip next week. Hopefully it will get my mind off for a while.

Up until the time when my dad decided to call off his twenty-year marriage with my mom and trade her in for for a younger trophy wife a few years back, I had absolutely no idea what mid life crisis was like and/or what detrimental effects it may oftentimes cause. However, when out of nowhere those ugly age/dark spots suddenly appear on my cheeks and had no intention to go away, and when many times I found myself dozing off in front of TV like some old folks do and more and more, I started to ponder this aged-old conundrum "is there any meaning to life?", I knew those might be the precursors to something big--something no good. "It's like an itch. But no matter how hard you scratch it, it is still itchy as hell," I decribed my recent experience to Mike, not hoping for an answer.
"Maybe you started to have mid life crisis. I read it somewhere,very similiar to what you've experienced."
At first I thought of it only as a joke. Mid life crisis? At my age? I heard many people got it in their 40s and 50s. But as I dug more on the internet, I found out people start to experience the onset of the crisis when they are around 40, give or take 20 years. The "symtoms" fit exactly what I've been having--discontent about many aspects of life; wanting to make big changes in life and do something different or adventurous; and often questioning the meaning of life and confuse about where life is heading.
Admist all negativities, something really nice did happen in my life too. Check out this.

Some good gesture from Michael. Thank you very much. Although I am not very fussy about cars as long as they take me to where I want to go... but hey it's a Mercedes. Although it's a 2004 used car,what more I can ask for? Mercedes and mid life crisis. Hmmm....

Last night the Gang of Four (Steve, Eric, Michael and I ) went to Chuck's Steak House in West Haven for dinner. Since I was just coming out the gym, I felt like I could stuff a whole cow in. We all ordered prime ribs except for Eric who had a giant porterhouse steak. Sometimes I really envy E cos he could eat and eat but still didn't gain a singe pound. The steak was delicious albeit a lil raw. The juicy meat was a real treat to your taste buds and you ended up crave for more and more. Luckily, I had some salad beforehand hence saved myself from succumbing to overeating. Eric and Steve ate the whole thing but poor Mike struggled to get his piece finished. We joked that next time a lady cut should be more than enough for him to work on.

I don't know watching flocks of ducks flapping their wings and gliding through water could have such a theraputic effect on your body and soul and it doesn't cost much. All it takes is a bag of leftover bread and you will become a kid again.

This labor day long weekend was occupied with doing house chores, grocery shopping and finding a new grownup "toy" for Mike--a car lah(what were you thinking). Making a big buying decision like that, I'd assume one has to take the time to shop around and possibly do some research beforehand. Nope. Mr.Mike has something else in mind when it comes to buying a car. His philosophy: go with your gut feeling--simple as that. Hence we only visited three car dealerships, saw three cars and test drove two. The decision making process was surprisingly snappy and wrapped up in three hours. Since the dealer is not open today, Mike will have to submit the bid tomorrow. Hope he will get it. Cross my fingers.

For some reason, I really crave for a big and juicy steak today. So a couple of friends and I went to Marisa's for dinner. I had the 36 oz prime rib. It was quite beefy and chewy and quite good and I loved it. Sorry Steve, I have to say it's better than the one we had in Mario last time. Too bad I could't finish the whole thing but neither could Mike. I am really disappointed with you tonight,Mike. Even the old lady sitting at the corner finished the thing. Oh boy I think the leftover steak could last me for days.

Today I feel like I want some spicy food for my dinner. So I made this delicious Kim Chi Ji Gae (cabbage Kim Chi soup. It's absolutely delicious and it's healthy too. Here is the recipe for anyone who is interested.

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 teaspoon Korean sesame oil 1 cup cabbage pickle (Kimchi) 1 garlic clove, crushed
1/4 pound boneless pork, sliced thin 3 cups water 1 scallion, cut into 3-inch pieces
1 firm chinese soybean curd, cut into 9 cubes 6-8 small clams, optional but recommended

1 Put the sesame oil in a saucepan and stir-fry the kimchi over moderate heat for 1/2 minute. Add the garlic and pork and continue to fry as the meat changes color.
2 Now add the water, bring to a boil, and cook for 10 minutes. Add the scallion, bean curd, and clams if used, and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes more. You can also buy the ready made Kim Chi soup mix in any Asian store. All you have to do in this case is add tofu and cabbage. I am going to spend the night watching the Korean drama I rented last Sunday. It's called 你来自那颗星 (Which star you are coming from).

We had a blackout as a result of a massive afternoon thunder storm yesterday. There was no power throughout the area where I live. My car broke down yesterday too and the mechenic told me it would take at least three days to fix the whole problem. I take good care of the car and have it checked out regularly. Hence I was surprised to learn that the whole engine system needs a overhaul. The dealer is not the one I normally go to and I don't want to get taken for a ride. But my regular dealership told me there were at least eighty cars at the moment lining up in the garage waiting to be fixed. Wow how did all those cars manage to get into an agreement and decide to go on a strike. Naturally I was not estatic when I got home only to find the air conditioner has ceased to work for a long time. Anyway, in time like this when there was absulutely no modern amenties around, I took Pretty for a "walk" along with his inseparatable dear ol'friend Mr. Mirror. To prevent him from flying away, I put him on a leash. He does not seem to enjoy being treated like a dog and tried everything his little bird's brain could think of to escape from the leash. But it's for your own benefit and mine too, baby. I spent the rest of the time staring at the darkness

After an 18-hour long flight and subsequently being stranded on a plane for nearly three hours due to inclement weather in Newark, I was so ready to go home. Finally got home around 12 o'clock last night and hummed to myself a "sweet sweet home" lullaby and immediately fell into a deep sleep. Two weeks went pretty fast and it's never long enough if you are with family and friends whom you haven't seen for quite a long time. When some of the kids saw me and took a good look at my hair, they jokingly remarked,"Wah! The weather in Malaysia is that hot la." Kids! They were referring to my newly permed hair done in KL. But seriously the weather in Malaysia is so insanely hot that even my hair can go haywire. I don't know how the locals manage to stay cool during the heat wave, but one thing I noticed is that: many of them wolf down hot chili peppers even in this stifling scorching heat, the ones make your tongue go numb and your mouth on fire. Their reasoning is: hot chili peppers make you perspire more which in turn will take the heat off your body thus cooling you off. Another secret to stay cool which they gleefully divulged to me---try Durian. Durian is also called the stinky fruit because of its distinct strong smell many find extremely unpleasant. My friend Steve once told me Durian smells like Chanel #5 to him. To me, however,the smell is almost like a piece of meat gone bad and the taste of it is even worse. The pic shown is taken at my friend Bruce's house which was permeated with "Chanel #5". Please be considerate, absolutely No burping please. Until I can embrace the heady smell of "the king of all fruits" my friend, my only weapon against heat is the good ol fashion way of taking showers several times a day and stayed in an air-conditioned room as much as possible.

I am in Kuching right now. Kuching is also called the Cat City since the name means cat in Malay. It's the capital city of Sarawak, the largest state situated on the island of Borneo. The weather is extremely hot and you can't possibly go to sleep without air-conditioning. For those who long for a comfortable life with a relaxed pace, Kuching is definitely a place to be. Noboby seems to be in a hurry and taking things slowly is not something to be frowned upon here. To me, Kuching is a city in transition and a mixture of the raw and refined. Except for the spawling real estates, nothing has really changed since I was last here five years ago. For the past few days--actually ever since my trip started--I have adopted a lifestyle of a piglet: eat, sleep and eat some more then go back to sleep again. Hospitality here is just incredible. Every night I was treated to a colossal dinner. I haven't weighed myself yet but the seemingly carefree lifestyle has taken a toll on my waistlines. It's very nice to meet the old friends and family/relative back home and too see the younger generation blossom. It's good to be back.

Crying Baby Scare

I arrived at Singapore around 6:10am local time and I was exhausted. The 18 hour trip should be a pleasant experience since the executive economy seats of Singapore Airlines proved to be more comfortable than those in business class in most airlines. But this trip turned out to be anything but fun. Ask any traveller, nothing is worse than being stuck in a airplane with a bawling, irritating and unpleasant critter, let alone three of them. Whenever I was ready to sleep, the boy would start crying then the girl would act up and scream at the top of her lungs. Crying babies should never be allowed to fly, nor should be their parents.

Nevertheless I reached Singapore's Changi International Airport safe and sound. I had no time to admire the state of the art amenities the world's best airport has to offer nor did I have the pleasure to check out the nice duty free shops. I had a mission: I had to catch the 6:50am flight to KL and my SIA flight was delayed by nearly forty minutes.

Best shampoo: Avalon Organic Rosemary Shampoo
Why I love it: A gentler way to make you look good and feel even better. Just take a look at the drain after washing--less hair. What else? It's organic and never tested on animals.

Best body lotion: Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion
Why I love it: It made your skin feel so smooth and soft just as the label says. My "hubby" even doubles it as a face cream and his face is soft like a baby's bottom.

Best mask/face care: SKII Whitening Source Intensive Mask
Why I love it: My skin looks and feels incredibly radiant and smooth after just twenty minutes. I had bought other SKII products such as the eye patches,facial treatment essence and some moisturizer whose exact name I coudn't remember. But persoanlly I think the mask is the best in the product line.
The only gripe: I've been using the products for over a year and the whitening effect is yet to see.

My buddy Dan at work just turned 24 today. Happy birthday kiddo and I hope England will .....lose. Haha, got you. Dan is the only person in my company who watches the world cup and is big on soccer. We had a little birthday party for him and kathy baked a little chocolate cake(yummy). It came as a little suprise to him and Lisa coaxed him into wearing that silly Happy-Birthday hat by telling him it's a company tradition. He looked like he was only seventeen years old in that pic and I was holding him like I was his older sister. He looked kinda shy too. But you no shy bud, show them the pic with you and your toilet--the pic you refused to show to your Dad. Thank you for bringing so much fun to the boring workplace with your goofiness and your good natureness. You are the man. Besides this, I had nothing exciting to write as nothing really interesting going on in my life right now. Maybe later on since I am going to take two weeks off in July. 老娘我不是淑女

前几个礼拜逛街时，在卖裙子的窗口，哈尼突然跟我说，“我发现你是个不喜欢穿裙子的女人呢”。嘴上虽矢口否认，但心里却知道这浑小子讲得十分正确。看看我的壁柜，挂满了不同颜色不同款式，长长短短的裤子，裙子却没有几条，自己穿裙子的次数十个指头就有的数。如果说喜欢穿裙是一个女人的天性使然，那么自己会不会少了些所谓的女人味呢。再仔细想想，自己穿衣做事无不象个男人婆。喜欢穿裤子多过裙子，高跟鞋没有几双，但运动鞋却一大堆。走路疾步如风，说话干脆直接。我的头发一直都不能用飘逸来形容，因为我只留齐耳的短发，认为这样既容易梳洗，又便于打理，又不用担心头发会分叉。讨厌叮叮当当挂在耳朵上的那些华而不实的东西。认为在身体任何部位穿孔，都是自虐。自己没有耳朵洞，也不想再去扎。记得第一次去穿耳朵洞，痛得龇牙咧嘴不说，后来那两粒珍珠(因为太小)居然长进了洞洞里，还作了个小手术才把它们取出来，自此对那些所谓的body piercing 更为反感。不喜欢化妆，每天素面朝天，偶尔高兴了，才在嘴唇上涂些唇彩，但二十分钟后又会被我吞吃得一干二净。但为了证明给这个混小子看，我偶尔也可以变淑女，决定穿次短裙给他看。“你穿裙还是蛮好看的嘛。以后应该多穿一下嘛。”看着镜子里我，麦克风笑得满脸横肉。穿了短裙去吃了趟饭，让我立刻想起为什么以前一直不喜欢穿裙的原因---穿裙让我浑身不自在。腿不可以放在台上，时刻记住要双腿并拢，身体必须坐直，而且还要斜斜得坐。一顿饭下来，我的大腿酸酸的疼。穿什么劳什子的裙，甚人的馊主意，我忿忿地想。

Sorry guys, it's been a while since I last updated my blog. I've been busy as usual. It seems that I wear many hats these days. Ever since Pompster's departure, I've taken on some of the costing responsibities as well. I really like the challenging aspect of this job but at the same time it starts to erode my personal life. I feel tired most of the time and have to drag myself through to the end of the day. To my dismay, I now have dark circles under my eyes. My allergy has been driving me crazy recently and at times I have trouble opening my eyes. So much for an update,huh? Complain, complain and complain.

Four-day conference in Chicago left me both exhausted but excited at the same time. Seventeen of us from various locations in the U.S. and foreign countries attended the conference. Everybody was so nice and We've got to listen to other people's ideas through power point presentations and how they are doing things up there. We all have learnt a great deal from each other. We had so much to talk about that we all agreed four days are not long enough. So at the end of the meeting, everybody was saying we should start planning our next meeting in Vegas.

On our last day in Chicago, I finally got to do a bit of sightseeing. Four of us took the train to downtown Chicago around five and we went to the top of the Sears Tower and took a bunch of pics. Since we had a seven o'clock resevation at Lawry's Steak House, we succumbed to the growling of our bellies and temporarily diverted ourselves to the juicy steaks or succulent seafoods Lawry has to offer. The dinner experience in Lawry was just so-so , certainly not on par with the high ratings my colleague gave it. We went to Navy Pier for a while and passed by some of the hottest night clubs in Chicago before headed back to the hotel and crashed into bed.

Americanized or Not Americanized--This Is the Question

My friend from work asked me the other day why the Chinese would eat dogs. Apparently he had read from somewhere dogs were stolen from their homes or on the streets in China only to be found later on someone else's kitchen table. Coming from a culture that places canines as men's number one friend, I could tell he was quite disturbed. I told him, "I am speechless. I don't have any speech."(Note: lines stolen from Seinfeld). "And that's very cruel, in my opinion," I went on, "quite frankly I don't know the reasoning behind eating dogs nor cats except perhaps the Chinese believe eating dog meat can increase one's stamina. What even puzzles me is the Chinese saying that goes 'The Chinese would eat everything with four legs except a table'. It's their culture, I guess." What I didn't realize until later on is that every time I referred to the Chinese people, I almost every time used the pronoun "they" as if I no longer belong to the collective group in question. Perhaps subconsciously I have already considered myself as a "global Chinese" drawing on the mix of both the Chinese and Western influences. In other words, my values and perspectives have drifted away over the years from what a true-blue Chinese has,yet not quite ready to assimilate into the mainstream American culture.

Here are the five things I consider that I am not Americanized:
1)I still don't understamd why baseball is being considered a great sport in America. It's not even fun.
2)I am not crazy about walking around bare-footed. As a matter of fact, I don't even feel confortable walking in the houses with no socks or slippers on.
3)I never did drugs nor have I ever had a hangover.
4)I am not arrogant and I care about foreign affairs.
5)I don't consider Mexico as part of America.

Here are the five things you can tell I am somewhat Americanized:
1)I enjoy exercise and like to perspire like a dog. I think all women should be encouraged to play more aggressive sport such as soccer.
2)I pop vitamin pills every day.
3)A pang of pain struck me when I learnt on the news that the twin towers were destroyed by terrorist attack and I cried just like any other grieving Americans.
4)I hate Uncle Sam
5)I recycle paper, plastics and cans. I protect environment and I am passionate about animal rights.

终于回来了。三天半的强化训练，每天八点到五点半，把我都快累死了。又没睡好，每天眼睛都没张开就去上课,就像是回到了以前上大学的日子。更糟糕的是老板也跟着来了，坐哪儿不行，还非得挨在我旁边，这么大个电灯泡，连打个盹儿都不行。星期二下午他告诉我他get sick，必须要先回去，他说不想开车开到一半，必须照个僻静地方狂吐。我心想连连三天跟你搅在一起，你不get sick 我也会咧。礼拜五上班，第一眼见到的就是这只黄澄澄的复活节兔子巧克力。是睡放在我台上的？这位不具姓名的人士是谁呢？是不是大嘴丽莎，她喜欢买这个牌子的巧克力。但好象又不是，否则照她的性格，我刚一进门她不拉住我告诉我才怪咧。是我老板？更不会了，他要买也要买Immodium (止泄药)才对，再说他也不是这种类型的人，问他要烟他就有。突然觉得我在这个公司还是有那么一点点人缘的，不是每个人都恨我。哈哈，至少有一个灵魂在复活节那天记得我。哈哈。

粗心的我今天才发现麦克风在礼拜四就已贴在大门上的那段行云流水的繁体草书，字体不敢恭维，但关切之情却跃然纸上。说来好笑，“钥匙”不会写，所以用了英文，并画了个钥匙的图样。那个末尾的“好好开”不是让我好好开大门，而是叮嘱我好好开车。麦克风说我开车象疯子，前后左右不看，方向不辩，视stop sign 于无物，还言不敢坐我的车云云。每晚电话里总是唠唠叨叨的叫我小心门窗，小心开车，真是比我老妈还烦。小女子行走江湖多年，这点江湖规矩还需你跟我噪聒，真是岂有此理。不过他在家里的日子，一切都妥妥当当的，让我一点都不用烦心。而我每次看见这张贴在门上的字条，总会令我想起那个让我由里向外感到温暖的男人.麦克风要回来了。

我象个怨妇，气急败坏的。嗨，相见好，同住难。跟一个男人住在一起，就象是同跟一头野兽住在一起没什么两样---不但需要勇气和毅力，还要有种不屈不挠的战斗精神才可。只不过出差了两天而已，原本就不整齐的家，变得更加凌乱不堪。这位仁兄却在电视机前津津有味。以后恋爱中的男女，应该强制性地令他们同居几日，几日过后，还不厌恶彼此的方可成亲。
“刚回来，为什么就对我那么恶啊？”迷乐佛似的大脸凑过来，一对小眼睛眨巴眨巴的，笑盈盈的，全无愠色。就好象是纵使你骂破了嘴，我还是我人，你又能那我如何的样子。
“是‘为什么就对我那么凶’，跟你将过多少遍啦，是‘凶‘'” 我一阵抢白。
“OK. OK. 那为什么你要对我那么凶呢？”仍是慢慢悠悠的好脾气。
真是气人，拳头打在了棉花上。妈妈说，男人最重要的是人好脾气要好。但这样虚心承认错误，坚决不改的厚脸皮也真是少见。是不是天下的男人都是那么厚脸皮。我叹.

上次跟这位仁兄去吃buffet 还吵了一架。他到了店门口，不落座，硬硬要让服务生让他进去先看看菜好不好。不好，就出来。我在一边尴尴尬尬，恨不得凿个地洞钻进去，他倒是饶有兴趣。结果他倒是进去了。出来后说，看见涂得红的刺眼的甜酸排骨，就想吐。我说你假装不认识我，太丢人。他说脸皮薄就会吃亏，他妈妈就常常这样教导他。虽然我心里明白，但我还是不会接受这种行为，原来厚脸皮也有遗传。

不过自己心里也明白，能接受我坏脾气的也只有他。而且跟麦克在一起有一种无拘无束的感觉，很舒服。这几麦克风去了加州公干。心里还是蛮想他的，想他的那张厚脸皮吧。

I am back from my vacation to Riveria Maya, Mexico. Got home around 11 on Sunday night. Finally had the chance to download all the pic I took over there. Just showing one of them where the gorgeous Caribbean sea serves a picture perfect backdrop for Aventura Spa Palace Resortk, the hotel where I stayed. I do look more relaxed and prettier (a little maybe?) when I am on vacation, don't I?

This is the second time that I went to Aventura and it turned out to be my second best vacation ever--the first being the trip I made previously to the same place about two years ago. We went to Ek Balam(an ancient Archaeology site), speed boating around the coastal area of Puerto Morelos National Park(my first time doing that), snorkling, kayaking and lazying in the sun. All in all we simply had tons and tons of fun. A woman we met at a communal Jacuzzi told me she felt like a Roman Goddess in Aventura. She was totally right. That was exactly how I felt. I am going to set up an account in Flickr so that you guys can see the pics we took. I know my friend Eric was asking me when I would put up the pic. Well, bud, sorry I've been real busy. That't price I have to pay after a vacation.

Please do not compare me with those gorgeous walking sticks you normally see in the Victoria's Secret catalog, K ? LOL. BTW, the cabana pant from VS looks terrible on me, don't you think?

Exactly six years ago today, I brought this little angel home. He was only about five months old at the time. I remembered when I sticked my hand inside the giant cage, he was the only birdie that willingly sat on my hand and instantly grabbed my heart. "I want to take it home," I remembered telling my friend and subsequently I did. I am glad I made that decison since he brought me so much joy and happiness. I am ready for a vacation although I haven't made my mind on where exactly I am going. The ladies in my office decided to bring in a little sweetness of a Valantine's Day to the office. So they brought from home all sorts of chocolates and home-made cookies for everyone to taste. Being a weak-minded person as I am, I couldn't resist the temptation and kept dipping into the bowl of shame full of Lindt's chocolate and almost emptied half of its contents while chit-chating with Lisa. Then Eva sweet talked me(kinda) into trying her pineapple cake. Being a nice person as I am, how could I say no to a sweet old lady. To counteract the sweetness of the cake, I poured myself a big cup of coffee and drank it all with one big chunk of the cake. Not only did I feel like I was close to caffeine overdose, I felt like a fat ass before 10 am.

Around 5, Mike showed up unexpectedly in my office and asked me out for dinner. We went to this place called "Il Palio Ristonrante" at corporate park. The food was so delicious and ambience superb. That basically concluded my Valentine's Day. Oh, did I mention I receive a Bulova watch as a gift? *grin*

Roller Coaster ride

Today I felt like I am on an emotional roller coaster ride. This morning my boss surmoned me into his office and gave back to me my performance review for 2005. In it, he not only wrote a lot of nice things about me but also he fully supported my desire to be more involved in cost accounting function and financial statement preparation. I also got a 3.5% pay raise effective in Feb. Hooray. Although it's not a whole lot of money, I am happy that all my hard work got recognized. I felt appreciated.

When I got home,somebody had left a message on my answering machine. That was when the roller coaster from hell began. It was from Dr. Spencer, my neurologist. She told me my MRI test results had come back and there was some abnormality in the results. It seemed that there was a small amount of bleeding occurring around the frontal lobe of my brain, which may have contributed to my several sudden fainting episodes in the past. She said she is going to order another kind of MRI for me on Monday. She also mentoned putting me on some kind of stroke medication. At that point, my heart started to sink and I felt my fainting spells kicking in again. Dr. Spencer is a renowned neurologist at Yale Medical School whom I recently engaged to find out why I am so prone to fainting. I had been sent to the emergency room numerous times in the past because of these unexplained syncopes. Every time, the doctors ran some tests and were stumped thenI was discharged. I already considered this as something I have to learn to live with. But in recent years, the frequency of those incidents has increased. I started to get very worried when I passed out subsequent to hurting my ankle while hiking in November 2005. A friend of mine who witnessed the whole process said I had a seizure.

I said a prayer just now and begged God to have mercy on me. I feel calm now. I decided I am not going to worry myself to death. Whatever happens in the future, I will take it as it comes. Eat, drink and be merry everybody since you don't know what's gonna happen tomorrow.
